First of all, you must know that recognizing bots is quite simple, as they are bogus accounts without the profile picture, often set as private or otherwise , with no content uploaded. In some cases, they also feature a profile bio that invites you to click on forged links, specifically designed to scam users.
By the way, in case you are bothered by a bot, you can block it or report it, by implementing the procedures that I will show you in the next chapters of this tutorial, which can be performed through the Instagram app for Android (downloadable for free from the Play Store or from alternative stores) and iPhone (downloadable for free from the App Store), or via the official Instagram site or its application for Windows 10. For more details on this, read on.
Block bots on Instagram
Having made the necessary premises, let’s see in detail how to proceed to block and possibly report the bots on Instagram , acting through all the platforms on which the well-known photographic social network is available.
From Android and iOS
If you want to block a bot on Instagram by acting from the social network’s official app for Android or iPhone , you must first locate his profile. To do this, if for example you have been contacted via private messages, press on the airplane icon located in the upper right corner (on the main screen of the social network) and you will access the list of all active conversations.
Locate, then, the conversation started by the alleged bot and tap on his username located at the top, to view his profile . In case you remember his username, you can search for his profile using the Instagram search engine directly ( the magnifying glass located below).
In both cases, after identifying the bot’s profile, tap the (…) icon located in the corner at the top right and, in the menu that is shown to you, tap the Block button twice in a row. To report it, also press the (…) icon again and tap on the Report and È Spam items, in order to send the report to the social network team.
You can block and report a bot on Instagram also from PC , via the official site of the social network or its application for Windows 10.
To start, then, go to the profile of the alleged bot by clicking on its username , after identifying it via private messages (which you can access via the airplane icon ) or directly via the Instagram search engine ( the search bar located at the top).
Now, click on the (…) icon and first click on the Block entries to this user> Block , then again on the (…) button and then on the Report> It’s Spam items, to also send a report for spam.
Block bots on Instagram stories
Another problem by Instagram is given by the display of the stories by bots. If you want to know what to do in this case too, read on.
From Android and iOS
If you are using Instagram via its official device app mobile, you can easily realize if one of the people who have viewed your stories is a bot, always referring to the information I gave you in the introductory chapter of this tutorial.
To start, then swipe down on the story you uploaded, so you can see the list of people who have viewed it.
At this point, if you detect the presence of a bot, click on the (…) icon located next to his username and tap the Block button twice in a row. If you also wish to report it, tap on his name, in order to go to his profile, press the (…) icon and select the items Report> It is Spam .
Are you viewing the list of people who have seen your Instagram stories from PC ? In that case, since the social network’s website and its Windows 10 application do not have a shortcut for blocking users directly from Stories, to block a bot you must necessarily click on its username .
After going to his profile, you must then press the (…) icon and click on the items Block twice in a row, to block the user. To report it, instead, you have to premiere on the (…) icon and then on the words Report> It’s Spam . You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?
