Want to know how to make followers on Instagram ? You are in the right place…
Instagram is the ideal social network for getting visibility, both for aspiring influencers and for brands of all sizes. However, growing an audience that interacts and loyal to the app is not easy.
In this article we will explain in detail and step by step how to make followers on Instagram, both that you start from scratch, whether you already have a follower base
How to make followers on instagram ? is a question that many people ask, unfortunately, most of the articles you find on Google are either too vague or too specific by chance and mainly feature a couple of low-impact and / or time-consuming ideas. >
On top of that, these Instagram follower growth strategies need to be updated almost every time Instagram updates its algorithm. There’s a good chance the tips shared in 2017 are long outdated, because Instagram has changed a lot in the last 3 years.
I’ve been doing Instagram Marketing since 2016. Over the years I’ve been testing ridiculous amounts of different methods. to grow my accounts.
Through these experiences, I have compiled a number of universal and effective ways to gain followers on Instagram. In my attempts to organize them in some way, I’ve thought of this step-by-step guide to growing a follower base, more specifically: a road to 20k.
But before we get started, it’s time to take a quick look at reality: there is no strategy that guarantees you 100% of reaching 1k, 10k or 20k followers in no time.
When it comes to how to get followers on Instagram, timing is everything. Yes, there are a number of strategies you can do to increase your following. However, starting to follow them all obsessively from now on will not necessarily translate into extraordinary growth, as the effectiveness of each action changes after reaching a certain follower milestone
For example, it makes no sense to buy a shoutout on your account for $ 100 from a large influencer while you have 10 followers. Yes, you might get some followers, but the price per follower would be unreasonably high. It would be much more effective when you’ve already established a strong identity and a good follower base on Instagram and are looking to accelerate the ball effect of p snow.
Well, stop chatting, let’s go to the practical guide: how to make followers on Instagram
Step 1: grow from 0 to 100 followers on Instagram
OK, now you have a new Instagram account and you need to create that initial momentum that will allow you to make followers without bots and various tricks.
If you already have a business or a brand with a somewhat established community, getting that initial following shouldn’t be a big challenge. Send a newsletter to your existing customers, inviting them to follow you on Instagram
Remember that when you want people to do something, you have to give them an incentive. In this case, a discount for your products for the first 100 followers might work well.
If you have a large enough email list, you can split the offer so that the first 100 followers get a 30% discount, the next 100 get a 20% discount, and so on, so as not to discourage those who might. having opened the email later, from following you. Before sending the email, make sure you already have some interesting posts to give you an idea of your brand.
If you don’t have a customer community, you can reach out to your friends, family or colleagues and ask them to follow you. This is one of my favorite starting methods, because you can get those first few followers quite easily, and maybe reach those 100 followers pretty quickly.
Also, if you have a website, you can capture any visitor to the site. adding a call to action button Follow me on Instagram , to make sure your audience knows where you are on social media! Of course, make sure your website is SEO optimized, otherwise you won’t have any visits.
If you need the help of an expert to increase the views of your website, ask for a consultation. Free SEO and we will help you place your site on the front page of Google.
After completing this initial step, it’s time to choose a strategy to gain followers on Instagram and grow this base to at least 100 followers .
Strategy 1: “Something is coming…”
This is the ideal strategy if you have some sort of upcoming ad, a new website, product, etc.
Create a great profile picture and an engaging and witty bio – don’t be afraid to add some emojis if that’s something you want. and can align with your target audience.
If you have a website add it to your bio so your followers can see who you are even outside of Instagram.
Even if your site is still under construction, it adds credibility to your brand, it shows to your audience that you are serious about making your brand a long-term project. Ideally, you should have at least one “ coming soon ” page set up with a lead capture.
But don’t worry – your Instagram page doesn’t necessarily grow faster with a link in yours. biography. At this point, it’s time to start monetizing your audience, which you can do in the next steps as well.
When writing an Instagram bio, make sure you are very clear about what your account will be. If you are planning to start an ecommerce business, then say so. If you are offering free marketing tips, let them know. Maybe you are throwing a giveaway for the first 100 followers? They should know. Give people an incentive to follow you, even if you don’t have a business already started.
Publish at least one post that is good and shows what you do. This will help you get followers on Instagram, as it lets potential followers know what kind of posts they can expect from you and are of interest to them, they will be more willing to follow you.
Unfortunately, only setting up your account will not help you make followers on Instagram. Look for accounts that are in your niche or a niche similar to yours and already have a substantial following (look for accounts with up to 10k followers ). Once you find these accounts, start following at least 10 of them and make sure you follow around 50 of their followers as well.
If you want to get things done right, you can check the accounts of those 50 followers before following them, to make sure they actually fit your target audience.
And here’s the most important step : make sure you interact with the accounts you follow regularly! Like and their latest posts, leave comments, reply to their Instagram Stories and / or simply write them a direct in which you introduce yourself in a sentence and mention the fact that you have created a new account and you would be honored to see them among the your first followers who will receive [ insert the incentive you wrote about in your bio ].
The direct message approach in combination with regular interactions will greatly increase your visibility on instagram and is a great strategy to make the first followers on Instagram, especially if you do not write to an account that is too large you have a very good chance that it will see your message . You should also do this in the later stages, but it is especially important when the account is new.
Strategy 2: “A rising star”
If, on the other hand, you don’t really have something big coming up or if you are interested in developing a personal brand (model, photographer, content creator etc.), choose this method.
Everything we talked about in strategy 1 is still valid. You should work on your bio, explain who you are and what your account is about, follow other accounts in your niche, comment on their posts and interact with their followers.
The main difference here is that you need to create your feed BEFORE promoting yourself. Remember, don’t focus on directing people to your future offers, direct them to your posts.
Here’s the big question:
How many posts should you publish before starting a serious promotional activity on Instagram? In my opinion, at least 9-12 posts are a good place to start.
This means that by the time someone lands on your profile, there will already be enough content to understand everything about you and / or your brand. Keep in mind that your posts should complement each other to create a coherent and aesthetically appealing feed

The general look of your post grid is one of the most important ( if not the most important ) things to help you increase your Instagram followers. Show that you take your brand seriously and let them know that they can consistently expect content of similar quality.
If you decide to post 12 initial posts, I would suggest posting them at least within 2-3 days . It depends on how often you plan to post in the future, but personally I think having all 12 posts posted in one day doesn’t seem organic at all . ( This, however, is just my personal preference, and if you’re super eager to get started post them all right away ).
In each post, you have up to 30 hashtags available, don’t use them all but limit yourself to 4-9 well-optimized hashtags to make your initial posts more visible to potential followers. It is important not to overdo the hashtags so as not to appear as a desperate spam attempt and at the same time beware of banned hashtags so as to avoid taking a shadowban

I suggest choosing both hashtags that have very few post shares ( like 1k-20k ), and very popular hashtags ( 10mil + ) . Chances are you will start getting followers on Instagram right from the start by using the right hashtags! The most important thing is that your hashtags are relevant to the content of your post.
Step 2: Grow up to 1,000 Instagram followers
Once you have that initial traction, the following strategy will really give you an extra boost to follow on Instagram. Here’s what you need to do:
- Identify some of the larger accounts ( 50k + followers ) that are similar to yours or are in the same industry with the same target audience that you’re trying to reach.
- Check if their followers are real (some great tools for that: Fameaudit, SocialAuditPro)
- If most of their followers are real, open the follower list and start following these accounts ( I personally suggest following accounts with a real human in the profile picture, instead of a logo )
- After a few days check who does not reciprocate follow and stop following these accounts. There are many apps for both Android and iOS for this very purpose – just do a search.
Ideally, at least 20% of the people you’ve started will follow. The more followers you have, the more “ healthy ” is the relationship between followers and followed accounts, the more attractive your feed will be and the higher the percentage of follow-back .
People are more likely to follow Instagram accounts that:
- Seem real
- They have more followers than accounts followed
- They have a lot of followers *
- They have a well-curated post feed
In addition to the follow / unfollow strategy, you should start to interact with these larger accounts ( as long as they are not direct competitors ).
First, turn on post notifications for these accounts. Whenever they post something, be the first to like and leave a comment. There are already too many comments like “ Great post ” out there due to bots. They have become very easy to recognize and most Instagram users know they are not real:
So try writing something about the caption or post: the more human you are, the better! ask specific questions or share your opinion. This will show other Instagram users in your community that you are active and involved.
To reach 1000 followers, I would suggest combining the strategy follow / unfollow with the strategies we just talked about.
Secondly, when you start reaching 1000 followers, it’s a good idea to start thinking about planning your Instagram posts. This will give you more time to create content, interact with your audience and continue to make followers on Instagram.
Step 3: grow up to 5,000 followers on Instagram
Now that you have a good foundation for growth, it’s time to grow even faster. I’m not saying you should stop doing what you did previously . I think these strategies are great even if you have over 20,000 followers. However, adding other growth methods from this point forward could give the same or better results with less effort.
- Secondly, consider investing in advertising . If you’re building a business ( and not just posting photos of your cat ), Instagram Ads will be very useful at this point in reaching people similar to your current follower base.
Step 4: grow up to 10,000 followers on Instagram
Reaching 10,000 followers on Instagram is magical
That number is so big that there isn’t enough space to write it, so it’s shortened to 10k.
Also, you get the huge benefit of being able to add links to your Instagram stories . This opens up an amazing opportunity to start monetizing your Instagram account. Here is an article in which I explain all the methods to make money on instagram
Keep doing everything you have done so far to increase your followers on Instagram. Obviously, if something doesn’t seem to give the right return based on the time spent, stop doing it and focus on the things that have the most impact! You should revisit your Instagram marketing strategy at each stage of this guide to make sure you stay on the right track!
Now, since you have a fairly large follower base, you should think about how to optimize this audience to further increase your follower count
Post at the best time
Once this number is reached, you will have enough interactions to find out the best time to post on specific instagram for your account, study the analytics of your account and find out which days and times you receive the most interactions and optimize your publishing plan
post in the time slots in you know most of your audience is online will that your posts can receive a greater number of interactions, and this will cause a snowball effect to be unleashed, more visibility will lead to more interactions that will lead to even more visibility and so on.
If your post is more viral than usual, not only will the interactions increase, but more people will more likely start following your account.
Tag a friend
One of the best ways to get people to promote your content is to simply ask them to tag their friends. This can actually be done on any post. Works well with emotionally powerful content – quotes, funny and / or inspiring videos, animal posts, etc.
In the caprion post, you can include something like “ Tag a friend “,” Tag someone who inspires you “,” Tag someone who should do this “and so on.
The content it must be really good though. This is the key. If the content is invalid, original, and effective, people are unlikely to tag someone else!
Step 5: grow up to 20,000 followers on Instagram and beyond
As with the previous tips, all of this that we have talked about so far can still be used to grow your account and help you get followers on Instagram.
However, I want to give you my final tips which I have tried personally, these also give a great return, especially when you have an account of over 10,000 followers.
As I said, having an Instagram follower count greater than 10k is magical . It builds credibility and you are definitely not another of the many accounts out there anymore.
That said, you should start thinking about creating a space outside of Instagram too . Having more than 10k followers offers a lot of monetization opportunities that you should grab on the fly, take advantage of them and focus on building a complete online presence rather than a single Instagram account.
Start thinking of your Instagram as a business . What problem are you solving? What value are you offering? What do your followers get from your posts?
Once you’ve identified these things, find out what other platforms your target audience can be on and start delivering value.
Here are some ideas on what to do:
- Reply to relevant comments on YouTube
- Help people in forums in your niche
- Reply to Quora-related questions
- Talk to people on Facebook groups in your niche
- Write blog articles that your audience could read
These are just a few examples of how you could use it to drive traffic to your profile and to increase Instagram followers. As Warren Buffet said, “ Never depend on a single revenue stream “. So why would you just depend on the Instagram algorithm to get Instagram followers?
Now, it might seem like a lot of work at first. But once you get into the rhythm, it becomes relatively easy. Alternatively, you can delegate most of these things to a social media manager.
Before I come to the conclusion let me give you one last method: shoutouts.
You can agree on different types of shoutouts. For example, it can be regular posts, IGTV or instagram stories.
There’s a reason I haven’t mentioned them yet. In my experience, buying shoutouts when your account is still small can be expensive and quite useless.
Sure, you can do S4S ( shoutout for shoutout) with someone who has similar content and is similar in size to your account even when you both only have 100 followers. But in my opinion, it doesn’t make much sense to start promoting other accounts while your account is still in its infancy. I think it’s a little off-putting for your potential followers.
However, if you have a close relationship with someone and their content is relevant to your account, it will seem more organic to your followers as well. Otherwise, 10k would be a good starting point for joining shoutouts.
You can try to reach some sort of swap agreement, but most of the time you’ll have to pay for shoutouts. Talk to different accounts to get an idea of how much they are worth. A shoutout from an account with 100,000 followers could cost you around € 50-100 . Also, the amount of new followers you will receive from a shoutout depends on your content, bio, number of followers, follower / account followed ratio, etc. ( See step 2 ).
Here’s how to get followers on Instagram! According to statesman, Instagram now has over 1 billion monthly active users . This is a huge social proof that they have managed to establish a platform that people really love.
As a result, it is attracting a growing number of brands, companies and freelancers who want to increase their presence. online and use Instagram as a channel to boost your sales. While this has made it harder than ever to stand out, I am confident that with the help of this guide + your creativity, you will be ahead in no time!
Many marketers will probably disagree with me on this, but I recently noticed that posting more content doesn’t necessarily make your account grow faster.. Interacting with other accounts yes.
In the beginning I published twice a day every day. A week, I only posted 2 times or so, but I was very active on the platform, leaving comments and likes around, reaching users I would like to collaborate with in the future and so on.
The result ?
My engagement remained more or less the same, but I was gaining more daily followers than ever.
The bottom line is that if you have a tight schedule, don’t worry. to publish as much content as possible. Post a few times a week, but make sure those absolutely great posts. Use high quality images / videos and write long captions that are engaging and useful!
