Instagram is confirmed as one of the most moving social networks on the web. Innovations are almost on the agenda and the last one concerns the so-called Nametag .
The trial started in April 2018 and today this new feature has been released for all accounts. What is it about? An option that facilitates the identification of a profile without performing special searches. In many cases, in fact, the accounts do not show the name of the person, but are registered with particular nicknames that are not always remembered or easily identified.
Thanks to the Nametags, each account will have a kind of personalized business card that functions as a QR code to be scanned. Each user creates their own sticker that other users can scan with their phone’s camera to start following them right away.
Nametags make social interaction a lot easier during parties, events, dinners, business meetings, fairs, congresses, concerts and in all those moments where knowledge is fast and with little possibility of deepening .
Do you know someone at a party that looks interesting but you don’t have time to linger because there are so many other people to greet and hang out with? It is enough for the person in question to show their Instagram Nametag on the phone screen to allow scanning with the camera. A few seconds and you can add it to your followers on the social network.
Fast, simple and free from errors and classic regrets such as “sin, I do not remember the nick of that nice boy / girl”.
The Nametags: how to use them and how to customize them
Nametags certainly cannot be defined as an absolute novelty. Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat users can generate QR codes just like you can on Instagram. To tell the truth, the operation is inspired by that of Snapchat’s Snapcodes that were launched back in January 2015.
In the case of Snapchat, the application allows you to customize your code by activating the internal camera. The camera automatically takes a sequence of 5 photos which are mounted one after the other to form the happy GIF inside the ghost.
The Instagram Nametag is slightly different, but the objective and the functionalities are basically the same.
To create the Nametag you need to access your profile by clicking on the little man symbol (or on your profile picture) below To the right. At this point, click on the menu with the three lines (hamburger button) at the top right.
Once clicked, a drop-down menu opens in which the Nametag option also appears, allowing you to view your code. Clearly, each account has its own specific code that you can also change at will.
The Nametag can be customized by choosing emojis, background and your favorite color in a special gallery. You can also take a selfie with sunglasses, hearts, mustaches, donuts and unicorns and use it to make the code even more personal.
Among other things, Instragram helps all users who use the new tool for the first time with a mini explanatory guide lasting about three minutes. The guide contains both instructions for learning how to scan the Nametag and information for customization.
Finally, Instagram gives you the possibility to share your Nametag via text messages or via Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram.
How to scan other users’ Nametags
The procedure is also simple if you scan other users’ Nametag. You must always access your profile and enter the section dedicated to Nametags, which includes the option Scan a Nametag .
At this point, just click on Scan because the mobile phone camera is opened automatically, from which the Nametag of the new account you want to follow is scanned.
There is also a second faster way to use the scanner. You access the search section with the magnifying glass located at the bottom and click on the Nametag symbol at the top right.
In short, Instagram will be even more social and easier to use. And in the future it will be easier and easier to follow the accounts you are interested in. It is precisely these days the rumor that the social network is testing a new function in some American universities.
The goal is the same as the Nametag, namely to encourage the identification of people. In other words, it would be a new field of the biography in which it will be possible to add your school / university and your school year.
The added information should then go into a directory of all students enrolled at that specific university, thus making it much easier to find their classmates. Once you have found your colleagues, it will only be a matter of seconds to start following them.
